How to Put Triplets in Sibelius 4

by Mark Rutkowski

Sibelius is a score notation program for both Windows and Mac first released in 1996. Musicians use Sibelius for scoring out music and playing back songs that have been written with high-quality sounds from a built-in sample library. Sibelius uses standard Western music notation for entering parts of scores. "Triplets" is a musical term referring to three notes played in one beat. In Sibelius 4, you insert a triplet by pressing a keyboard shortcut.

Open any desired project in Sibelius.

Select the "Eighth Note" tool to add notes to the staff.

Add the first note of the triplet series. Press "Control+3" or "Command+3" to add the remaining two notes in the triplet series.
