Zone Alarm Antivirus Won't Run

by Suvro Banerji

ZoneAlarm is a security software suite that provides you with various tools to keep up with the maintenance of your computer. One of the widely used applications is its anti-virus engine. ZoneAlarm anti-virus may not work properly if it is outdated or expired. Occasionally, ZoneAlarm may refuse to run its anti-virus engine due to system or user errors. You can figure out the problem with some troubleshooting.

Update ZoneAlarm anti-virus. Select "Overview" in the main window. Choose the tab that says "Preferences." Click the "Check for Update" button. Hit "Download Now."

Disable any other anti-virus programs that may be running simultaneously. Locate the quick-launch icon on your task bar to locate the other anti-malware program. Right-click and select "Exit" or "Disable" depending on the program.

Disable Windows Firewall for ZoneAlarm. Click the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel." Click to "Switch to classic mode." Double-click "Windows Firewall." Select the "Exceptions" tab/ Place a check mark next to ZoneAlarm and hit "Apply."

Renew ZoneAlarm anti-virus. Navigate to the ZoneAlarm website (see Resource). Click the drop-down menu next to "ZoneAlarm Antivirus." Choose the preferred subscription. Select "Renew now." ZoneAlarm renewal will cost you money depending on its validation (1-year or 2-year subscription), as well as the number of users who will be using the program.
