How to Speed Up Windows 7 By Adjusting Performance Options

Windows 7 includes many advanced graphics and animation options that can make your system appear quite stylish. However, if you need to get every bit of performance out of your machine or you just have a slower machine, these options can cost you significantly in performance. By turning off these animations and graphics options you can see a 10% to 25% increase in your system performance, depending on how fast your hardware is. The process is simple and will take less than a minute.

Press the "Windows" key and the "R" key at the same time to open up a "Run" prompt.

Type "SystemPropertiesPerformance" into the "Run" box and press "Enter."

Choose "Adjust for Best Performance" to remove all of the check marks next to the animation and graphics options. Press "Apply" and then "OK."
