How to Repair Services.exe

by Thomas King

Services.exe is an executable file used to start and stop services running on the Windows operating system. This includes services that run automatically at startup and close automatically at shut down. The executable file is considered an essential system file and thus, if missing, corrupt or otherwise damaged, can be repaired using the Windows System File Checker tool.

Click "Start" and type "cmd" into the search field.

Right-click "cmd" in the results list and select "Run as Administrator." The Command Prompt opens.

Type the following command into the Command Prompt and press "Enter." The command runs the Windows System File Checker, which automatically repairs services.exe. This may take several minutes.

sfc /scannow
