How to Install Microsoft Word on an HP Pavilion

The HP Pavillion is a high-performance laptop that comes in a variety of styles, with optional touch screens and even back-lit keyboards. The laptop comes with various software, but it does not come with Microsoft Word, a powerful word processing program that can create documents such as pamphlets, newsletters, greeting cards and various other documents. Microsoft Word is part of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.


Insert the Office CD into your HP Pavillion's disc drive. Wait for the Setup Wizard to start.


Type your 25-character product key and click "Continue."


Check the box for "I accept the terms of this agreement" then click "Continue."


Click on "Upgrade" button or "Install now" to begin the installation. The Upgrade button displays if you have an existing version of Word installed. Install Now shows if there is no other version of Word on your computer. It should take 15 to 40 minutes, depending upon the speed of your laptop. Once the installation has finished, click "Close."


  • check When you open Microsoft Word for the first time, Microsoft will attempt to activate the software. Make sure you're connected to the Internet, otherwise you'll have to activate the software by phone.
