How to Install Avira Free Version Without an Internet Connection

by Lyan Uaha

The Avira anti-virus free version can be easily downloaded and installed on a computer using Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista without a direct Internet connection. This software can be used to scan your computer for viruses, worms and trojans, and then remove them. But unlike the Avira anti-virus premium version, it does not monitor your Internet connection for suspicious activities. The free version setup will first have to be downloaded on a computer with an Internet connection and then transferred to the computer on which it is to be installed via a removable media (like a USB drive).

Plug-in the USB drive in the USB port of a computer that has an Internet connection.

Click the Avira anti-virus free version download link (see Resources).

Navigate to the USB drive location on the Save As dialogue box that opens and then click “Save.” The Avira anti-virus free version download process will start. The completion time will depend on your Internet speed.

Right-click the USB drive icon on the bottom right of the taskbar after the download process has completed and then click “Eject USB Mass Storage Device.”

Remove the USB drive and then plug it in the USB port of the computer on which you want to install the Avira anti-virus free version.

Click “Start” and then click “Computer.”

Double-click the USB drive icon on the window that opens.

Double-click the Avira anti-virus setup icon (avira_antivir_personal_en.exe) to start the installation wizard and then follow the directions in the installation wizard to complete the installation.
