How to Enable Real Time Scanning in McAfee Security Center

by Garrett Genet

McAfee offers a variety of protection services through its software, one of which is called "Real-Time Scanning." What this means is that the anti-virus software will actively monitor activity on your computer as it's happening, preventing any actions it finds to be suspicious or dangerous in nature. The drawback to enabling this feature comes at the cost of computer resources. If security is your primary concern, however, the decrease in performance shouldn't be an issue.

Double-click the "M" icon in your taskbar. You should see the Security Center pop up.

Click the "Navigation" link and select "Real-Time Scanning."

Click "Turn On."

Close the Security Center.
