How to Download Pictures to the Asus 900 Eee

by Si Kingston

There are many ways to download pictures to an Asus 900 Eee PC hard drive. The Asus 900 Eee runs the Windows XP operating system. This version of Windows Explorer features an AutoPlay window that includes options to make downloading files more straightforward. The computer will store image files in any format from a variety of sources including a flash drive, the Internet, a memory card and digital camera. However, the system can't download images from a disc since there is no optical drive included.

Download pictures from the Web. Click on the download link for the picture online and follow the download prompts to save the file to the Asus 900 Eee. Or, right-click on the image file. Select "Save image as" in the drop-down menu. In the browser window select a save location. Enter a file name in the corresponding field. Select the file type to save the image as (e.g., jpg or gif) in the corresponding field.

Download pictures from a flash drive. Insert the built-in USB connector on the flash drive into the USB port on the right-side of the Asus 900 Eee. Select "Open folder to view files" in the AutoPlay window. Browse the flash drive folder for a picture you want to download, right-click on the file and select "Copy." Go to the location on the Asus where you want to save the image, right-click in an empty space in the save location and select "Paste."

Download pictures from a camera. Plug the camera to the Asus 900 Eee with the USB cable, plugging it into one of the USB ports on the right side of the computer. Select "Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard" in the AutoPlay window. Click "OK." Check all images you want to download in the Wizard window. Click "Next." Enter a name for the picture group and a save location. Click "Next" and "Finish."

Download pictures from a SD/MMC (SDHC) memory card. Insert the memory card into the memory card slot on the right-side of the ASUS. Click on the desktop Start menu and select the "My Computer" folder. Click on the drive that represents the inserted memory cards. Right-click on any image file located on the memory card and select "Copy." Right-click in the save location on the computer and select "Paste."
