How do I Reset Mio C220?

by Solomon Poretsky

The Mio C220 DigiWalker in-car GPS navigation unit is a small, no-frills device. It offers a 3.5-inch, 65,000 color LCD screen which can display maps in either a 2-D or 3-D format, and comes preloaded with maps of the United States and 3.5 million points of interest. Directions are provided both through on-screen prompts and through vocal directions. Like any powerful, small computing device, though, it does require that you reset it from time to time.

Hold down the orange power button on the device's top panel for four seconds. The device's shutdown screen should appear, offering a choice between "Suspend" and "Restart."

Tap the "Restart" button, and allow the device to restart.

Eliminate serious errors, such as a "Fatal Application Error," by doing a hard reset of the C220. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds, continuing to hold it after the shutdown screen appears.

Release the orange power button when the screen goes completely blank, then hold the power button down for 10 seconds to restart the device.
