How to Disable Roxio Drag to Disc

by Erin McManaway

The Roxio Creator is a set of software components that allow you to burn CDs and DVDs on your computer. Drag to Disc is a part of this software that launches every time you turn on your computer and places an icon in your computer's task bar. While this is not a malicious program, it does run in the background and consume computer resources. This adds to the processing load on your computer and may especially affect older computers with less memory.

Click the "Start" button to launch the "Start" menu.

Click "Run" if you are using Windows XP. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users can use the text box on the "Start" menu.

Type "msconfig" in the text box and press the "Enter" key on your keyboard. This will launch the "System Configuration" tool.

Navigate to the "Startup" tab. This will display all items that load on your computer at startup.

Remove the check box from items that reference Roxio or Drag to Disc.

Click the "Apply" button, then click "Close."

Allow your computer to reboot at the prompt. The Roxio Drag to Disc component should not launch on start up.
