How to Connect an Old TV to Cable

Attaching an older television, the kind with screw terminals rather than a round connector, to your cable is simple with an inexpensive adapter. The key is changing the impedance, or resistance in the wire, to be compatible between the TV connection and the cable.


Place the television on a solid surface that will support the weight and allow you to turn the appliance for access to the back.


Use the screwdriver to attach the adapter to the television set.


Connect the end of the coaxial cable to the adapter.


Double check all connections for tightness.


  • check A small wrench sized to fit the cable connector will help make a tight connection.


  • close Coil any excess cable out of the way to avoid a trip hazard.
