How to List Your Business on Yahoo

Listing your business on Yahoo! helps your customers find you and provides them with quick information, including your address, website and hours of operation at a glance. Adding your business to Yahoo! Local is free, though you can pay for an enhanced listing that allows you to upload up to 10 photos and your company's logo. Enhanced listings also include a longer description and a place to enter your business's slogan or a tagline.

Visit and click the yellow "Sign Up" button.

Sign in to your Yahoo! account.

Type in your contact information and location information in the boxes provided on the "Step 1: Listing Details" page. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. Click in the box next to "Do not display my business address" if you do not want your address to show up in the search results.

Select the radio button next to your choice under "Hours of Operation." Use the drop-down boxes next to each day of the week to choose the opening and closing hours of your business. Type in additional hours information in the text box under "Additional Hours of Operation Information" if you have anything to add.

Place a check mark in each box next to the payment types you select in the "Payment Methods You Accept" section.

Add additional information in the text boxes provided in the "Additional Information" section to specify languages spoken, the year your business was established and other information.

Click the "Continue" button.

Select a master category and a sub-category from the drop-down lists on the next page, titled "Step 2: Category Selection." You may select up to five categories by clicking on the "Add another category" link.

Click the "Continue" button.

Preview your listing. Click the "Edit" link to make changes. Click the "Submit" button once you are satisfied to add your business listing to Yahoo!.


  • check Upgrade to the enhanced listing for a monthly fee by clicking on the "Click here" link next to "Want your business to stand out from the crowd?" on the preview screen or by clicking on the "See how pictures can make your business more attractive" link near the bottom of the preview screen.
