by Bobson St. Pierre

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is an Internet protocol used by computers for transferring files over the Internet. FTP requires both a client and host in order to work properly. FileZilla is an FTP client that is used to transfer files from your local computer to an FTP host and is available for free. Obtaining and installing FileZilla is simple and takes just a few steps to follow.

Open your web browser and navigate to the FileZilla download page (see Resources).

Click to download the FileZilla client. Choose "win32-setup.exe" and click "Run" on the file download box to install FileZilla.

Read the "GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE" agreement and click "I Agree."

Make a choice between the two options: "Anyone who uses this computer (All users)" or "Only for me (username)." Click "Next."

Make sure "FileZilla" client is checked in the list components to install and click "Next."

Click the "Browse" button to select a destination folder to install FileZilla and then click "Next."

Click "Install." This process will run the setup for FileZilla. Click "Finish" when done.
