How to Share Contacts From Your iPhone Using Garmin GPS

You can use your iPhone to transfer the address of any contact to your Bluetooth-enabled GPS from Garmin; this way, you don't have to manually type this information every time you want to visit someone. Garmin allows transferring such data through the Smartphone Link application, available on the App Store. After downloading the app, you need to pair your iPhone with your GPS device to be able to share information about your contacts.

Pairing Your Bluetooth Phone With Your GPS

Step 1

Tap "Settings" from the home screen of your iPhone. Select "Bluetooth" and turn the Bluetooth switch to On to enable the feature.

Step 2

Press "Tools" on your Garmin GPS, select "Settings" and then touch "Bluetooth." Tap the blue box next to Bluetooth and select "Enabled" to enable Bluetooth on your GPS.

Step 3

Touch "Change / Add" from the Bluetooth menu of your GPS and select "Scan for Devices."

Step 4

Select your iPhone from the list of devices discovered by your GPS to pair the two gadgets together. Enter the Bluetooth passkey displayed on your phone's screen if prompted to do so.

Transferring Information to Your GPS

Step 1

Download and install the Garmin Smartphone Link app from the App Store on your iPhone.

Step 2

Launch Smartphone Link on your iPhone. Select "Find Contacts" from the main menu and type "OK" to allow the app to access your contact list.

Step 3

Select the contact whose address you want to share with your GPS. Tap "Send" under the address to send the information via Bluetooth and press "OK" on your GPS to confirm the transfer.
