How to Register Online for a Virgin Mobile Account
By Melissa King
Most monthly cell phone service plans from wireless providers have you pay for extra minutes and features you don't use or need. Virgin Mobile is one of several wireless providers, however, that lets you add minutes to your account only when you need them. In addition, you're not locked into a contract, and can add features like text messaging and Internet browsing if you need them. To get started with Virgin Mobile, you need to buy a compatible phone, then go online to set up an account.
Purchase a Virgin Mobile cell phone. Compatible cell phones are available in retail and electronics stores, or at the Virgin Mobile website (see Resources).
Go to the Virgin Mobile website (see Resources). Click "Activate" in the top right corner of the screen.
Click the button next to "I'm a new customer..." and click on "Next." Enter the zip code for the area where you plan to make most of your calls. Click "Next."
Enter your cell phone's serial number. Find this 11- or 18-digit number underneath the battery. Click "Next."
Fill in your personal information to complete a Customer Profile. Click "Next."
Select a plan from the options available, and add a method of payment. If you need to add more minutes later, you can do so at any time. Click "Next" to finish setting up your account.
- From your account, you can make changes to your plan, download new content or check your usage history.
