Nero StartSmart is a basic "wizard" program that comes bundled with the Nero Burning ROM software. StartSmart is a type of control panel, and you can use it to quickly get projects started in other Nero applications by clicking a few buttons. Burning a video file to a DVD using Nero StartSmart is a relatively easy process, but your computer must be equipped with a DVD burner.

Step 1

Insert a blank DVD into your computer's DVD burner.

Step 2

Launch Nero StartSmart.

Step 3

Click "Create and Edit."

Step 4

Click "DVD Video Disc." This will launch the Nero Vision software that you'll use for the remainder of the process.

Step 5

Click "Import" to import the video file you'd like to burn to a DVD disc into the main Nero Vision program window. Click "Next."

Step 6

Use the next screen to design a menu for your DVD video disc. If you decide that the menu creation system is too complicated or you don't want to have a menu, select "Do not create a menu" from the Menu Type drop-down and click "Next" twice.

Step 7

Preview your disc and if acceptable, click "Burn." Nero Vision will convert your video file to the MPEG-2 file format and burn it to the DVD in your burner. When the process is complete, you will have a perfect DVD video disc containing the file you provided to the software.
