Series 60 Torque Specs

The Series 60 engines are Detroit Diesel engines that are generally used for hauling vehicles that require a substantial amount of torque. Torque is the force which propels the vehicle, measured in the number of pounds it can exert per foot. Knowing this allows you to estimate the power of the various Detroit Diesel engines.
11.1L Engines, 300 and 330 HP versions
The 300 and 330 horsepower versions of the 11.1 Series 60 engine generate a total of 1,150 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm.
11.1L Engines, 350, 365, and 400 HP versions
The 350 horsepower version of the 11.1 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,250 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm. The 365 horsepower version of the 11.1 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,350 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm. The 400 horsepower version of the 11.1 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,450 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm.
12.7L Engine, 370, 400, and 430 HP versions
The 370 horsepower version of the 12.7 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,450 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm. The 400 horsepower version of the 12.7 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,450 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm. The 430 horsepower version of the 12.7 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,450 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm.
12.7L Engine, 470 and 500 HP versions
The 470 horsepower version of the 12.7 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,450 or 1,550 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm. The 500 horsepower version of the 12.7 Series 60 engine generates a total of 1,550 ft./lbs. of torque at 1,200 rpm.
