How to Zoom a Webcam
By Rizwan Qadir
A webcam's zoom option allows you to home in on a user's face while video conferencing to eliminate the background. Microsoft Windows does not feature native webcam settings. However, instant messaging applications feature the option to configure a webcam's zoom settings. You can easily access these settings via an instant messaging application including Windows Live Messenger. This software allows video chat, photo and video sharing, video messaging and private offline chat.
Step 1
Launch Windows Live Messenger. Click "Sign In" using your screen name and password.
Step 2
Click "Tools" on the top menu bar. Select "Set up audio and video devices."
Step 3
Adjust the speaker volume by dragging the slider under "Speaker." Adjust the microphone sensitivity by dragging the slider under "Microphone." Click "Next."
Step 4
Select the webcam from the drop-down list. Click "Webcam Settings" and then click the "Camera Control" tab on the top.
Step 5
Move the slider captioned "Zoom" to adjust the zoom settings. Adjust the slider left or right to zoom in or out. Click "OK."
