How to Get Free Wi-Fi Signals

Wireless networking is a convenient way of connecting to the Web. You can get free Wi-Fi signals from wireless networks. In order to get free Wi-Fi, you need a wireless network card. If your computer does not come with a network card, you can use a wireless USB adapter to get free Wi-Fi. You most to connect a wireless hotspot to get free Wi-Fi.

Windows-Based Computers

Connect your wireless network adapter to the computer. If your computer does not have a wireless network card, a wireless network device has to be connected to receive Wi-Fi signals.

Turn on your computer and open the "Start" menu and click on "Connect to." This will show you a list of the closest wireless networks. It will also show you the strength of the Wi-Fi signals.

Double click on a network or click on "Connect" to receive the WiFi signals. You need to connect to a wireless hotspot to get free Wi-Fi.

Macintosh Computers

Click the Apple icon and select "System Preferences."

Click the "Network" icon. The following screen will show you the wireless settings of your computer.

Go to "Show" and select "AirPort."

Go to "Location" and select "Preferred Networks."

Select a wireless network to connect to. If the network is secured, type the password to connect to it.
