The Best Way to Download Books

by Brenda Priddy

One of the great inventions that the Internet has brought about is the ability to download books in audio or text format. Downloading these books is easier than you might think, and takes just a few steps. In a few minutes you can have several new great books to listen to or read.

Types of Readers

Audio books can be recorded and listened to in many different formats. The two most common book formats that are downloaded from the Internet are Amazon Kindle books and audio books that are saved in MP3 format. Alternatively you can download PDF files of books to read on the computer or to print out. The Kindle is a great way to read books on the go because it takes up little space. There is also the option to have the books read aloud so that you do not have to read the words. Audio books can be saved to MP3 players or other audio devices. Other e-books can be read directly from the computer, or they can also be used with MP3 devices that are also compatible with data files.

Downloading Kindle Books

Kindle books are easy to obtain. It is possible to download many Kindle books right from the Kindle itself. You can also download Kindle books from many online book retailers. Downloading books directly from the Kindle is the easiest way to get books for the Kindle. Make sure that your Kindle is registered. This ensures that you will be able to open the downloaded books. The best way to search for new books is to go to the "Sync and Check for Items" menu. Under this menu you can search for books and download them straight to the Kindle. You will need a valid credit card or Paypal account to send payments for books.

Downloading MP3 Books

Downloading books from online sites is almost as easy as using the Kindle to search for books. Once you find the book that you want to download, in audio or text format, you will have to use a credit card or Paypal account to pay for the book. Once this is done the download might start automatically, or you may have to click a button to start the download. Make sure the files are downloaded to a file that you can easily access. The desktop is easy to reach and is a great place to download files. For many MP3 players the files can be directly added the same way that you add music. However, for others, such as the ipod, you will need to burn the book to a CD and then transfer the book into iTunes.
