How to Watch Netflix Without Silverlight
By Anthony Bonesarelli
Silverlight is a Microsoft browser developed for Internet plug-ins and other online applications, such as Netflix's streaming video player. Formerly a strictly mail-order DVD rental service, Netflix also offers streaming video of thousands of titles available to watch in any popular Internet browser. If your browser or operating system is incompatible with the Silverlight platform, however, Netflix offers streaming video on a long list of Netflix-ready devices, including video game consoles and mobile phones.
Log into your Netflix account.
Visit the Netflix Ready Devices page (netflix.com/NetflixReadyDevices).
Click to select the type of device you want to use to watch streaming video from Netflix. For example, if you have a smartphone or a tablet PC, you may be able to take advantage of the special Netflix app for mobile devices (including iOS and Android). Additionally, many Internet-enabled home entertainment systems are compatible with Netflix as well. These include high-definition (HD) television sets, Blu-ray players, video game consoles and other modern systems.
Browse the list of Netflix-ready devices. When you locate your device, click the corresponding "Learn More" link to view a list of basic information and instructions to connect your device with Netflix. Each set of instructions is unique to each device; however, a common step shared by all of the Netflix-ready devices is that you will need to verify your account information. Certain consoles and systems additionally require you to connect your account with a device activation code, available once you begin the installation process for the device.
