How to Watch a Movie on an iPad Connected to a VIZIO Flat Screen

Watching videos on the iPad is fun, but the small screen size can make sharing those videos with friends a pain. By connecting your iPad to your Vizio TV, however, you can share in a big way and replicate that movie theater experience with your iTunes videos. There are a few ways to watch iPad videos on the Vizio, all of which require an accessory purchase.
Apple TV
Apple TV is Apple's high-definition streaming device for all iOS devices. Apple TV can be connected to your TV via HDMI and added to your home network via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. All you need to do after that is turn everything on and set your iPad to push video to Apple TV via AirPlay. In addition to streaming content from your iOS devices, Apple TV can play iTunes content via Home Sharing and has access to other streaming services like Netflix, Hulu Plus and HBO Go.
Lightning Digital AV Adapter
If you want cheaper and more direct solution, you can also use the Lightning digital AV adapter. This cable plugs into your iPad's Lightning port and ends with an HDMI port, enabling you to connect your iPad to your Vizio directly. Because HDMI is both an audio and video medium, you'll be able to get picture and sound from a single cable.
Lightning toVGA Adapter
If all of your Vizio's HDMI ports are occupied or otherwise unavailable, you can invest in a Lightning to VGA adapter cable instead. This analog video format won't produce the same high-definition picture an HDMI cable, but is a viable alternative. VGA only supports picture, meaning you'll need to connect your iPad to a compatible sound system using a male-to-male 3.5 mm cable or other compatible cable with at least one 3.5 mm connector. Not all models of the Vizio support VGA, consult your owners manual for details regarding your television.
Considerations
In all cases, the only way to connect your iPad to your Vizio is to purchase a peripheral accessory. You also need to purchase additional cables to connect your devices: neither Apple TV nor the digital AV cable include HDMI cables, and the Lightning to VGA cable does not include a VGA cable or a sound cable.
