How to Use a PS1 Controller on a PC
By Stephen Lilley
If you've got an old Sony PlayStation 1 video game console controller lying around the house that you aren't using anymore, consider hooking it up to your PC. You can then control all of your favorite PC gaming titles (that feature joystick support) using the familiar console made famous by Sony's first entry into the console gaming world. Purchase the necessary adapter required to make this connection possible.
Step 1
Connect your Sony PlayStation controller's cable to the controller adapter.
Step 2
Connect the cable that runs off of the controller adapter to a USB port on your computer.
Step 3
Click "Start," then "Programs" and launch one of the video games you have installed on your computer that supports the use of an external controller.
Step 4
Enter the "Settings" menu on your video game and select "Controller Settings." You can use this screen to map out the PlayStation controller to fit your needs in the game. When you're finished, click "Save."
