How to Use the HP Deskjet F380 All-In-One Scanner

by John Stevens J.D.

The Hewlett-Packard Deskjet F380 features a scanner within the upper portion of the device. "Scanning" an item describes the electronic process of converting pictures or text to data, then transferring that data to the computer as an image. Scanning an item into the computer is a simple task with the F380, with the only limitation being the size of the item, as the item must fit onto the scanning glass.

1

Turn the unit on by pressing the "On" button located at the top control panel. The control panel is located on the left side of the unit. The "On" button will illuminate to indicate that the unit is receiving power.

2

Load the scanner with the item to be scanned. First, lift the lid of the F380 to the upright position to reveal the scanning surface. Place the item to be scanned face down onto the scanning surface. Position the item so that the edge of the item rests squarely against the front left-hand corner of the scanning surface, then close the unit's lid.

3

Press the "Scan" button located at the lower left-hand corner of the F350's control panel to start the scan. If necessary, the scanning process can be stopped by pressing the "Cancel" button located just to the left of the "X" on the control panel.

4

Save the scanned image to the computer when the scan is complete by clicking the "Accept" button on the window that appears on the computer's monitor.
