How to Use a Cricket Modem as WiFi
By Mandy Slake
The Cricket Crosswave WiFi modem allows you to connect wireless devices directly to the Cricket network. The modem is portable and can run off of a power source or an internal battery. Before you can use the Crosswave to access the Internet you must go through a setup and activation process. Once the activation is complete you can use the modem as a WiFi hotspot.
Step 1
Turn on your Cricket WiFi modem.
Step 2
Click "Start" and open "Control Panel." Choose "Network Connections" and select "Wireless Network Connection."
Step 3
Select "View available wireless networks" and choose "Crosswave-xxxx." Click "Connect."
Step 4
Enter the network key if prompted. The network key is located on a sticker under the battery cover.
Step 5
Open your Web browser and enter "http://192.168.1.1" in the address bar. Press "Enter" and click "Activate," if prompted, then click "OK."
Step 6
Click the "Login" button if you do not get an activation option. The software will prompt you for a user name and password. The default user name is "cricket" and the password is "0000."
