How to Upload HD Video to YouTube
By Suzette Barnard
In late 2008, YouTube started allowing users to upload high-definition video. Large video files to YouTube can be viewed in a full-screen video player that shows the quality of HD video. You can use the same process for uploading HD video that you use to post standard video to YouTube. For the best quality, upload original video files.
Log in to your YouTube account. If you do not have an account, create one using the "Sign Up" button on the YouTubem home page.
Click the "Upload" button and select "Video File" from the list of options. This will open a new window.
Click on the "Browse" button. Find the video that you want to upload.
Click "Open." The video will begin uploading.
Add a title, a description and tags to your video page. To finalize your video, select "Save Changes."
Tips
- YouTube requires HD video to have several elements. Videos should be MPEG4 files at a resolution of 1,280 x 720 or 1,080 pixels. The maximum file size is two gigabytes. The video should be shot at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second and be less than 15:59 minutes.
- Make sure your high-definition video is in a format that YouTube recognizes. These include WebM, MPEG4, 3GPP, MOV, AVI, MEGSPS, WMV and FLV files.
Warnings
- Only post video that is appropriate for a general audience, conforming to YouTube's content guidelines.
