Updating Phone Numbers on Gmail
By Tammy Columbo
When you create a Gmail account, an all-inclusive Google account is generated on your behalf. Your Gmail login information can be used to access other Google products, such as Google+, YouTube and Google Play. During the account creation process, you were prompted to enter a phone number to recover your account should you forget or lose your password. You can update the phone number associated with your Gmail account or add another number by editing your account recovery options for your Google account. Update your account phone number in your Gmail settings or use the Account Recovery Options tool.
Log in to your Gmail account, and then click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the page to open the Settings menu.
Click the “Accounts” option, and then click “Change Password Recovery Options.”
Click the “Add a Recovery Email Address, Mobile Phone Number, Security Question” option if you have not yet added a phone number. If you already have a phone number associated with your account, click the “Edit” link next to the existing number. The existing phone number displays in an editable field.
Type your phone number in the “Mobile Phone Number” field.
Click “Save” to save your settings.
