How to Update Encarta Premium

Microsoft announced in June 2009, the discontinuation of the Microsoft Encarta Premium product lines. Customers using Microsoft Encarta Premium will still receive updates to the software for up to three years after purchase or until January 10, 2012, whichever comes first. The release of updates however, discontinued for all product versions, both national and international release, as of December 2009. If you need to download all available updates since your purchase, as long as your product is less than three years old, you have until January 10, 2012.
Start your Microsoft Encarta Premium software by either clicking on the icon on your desktop or by going to the "Start" menu, then "Programs," and clicking on Microsoft Encarta.
Confirm you would like to download the available updates for the program when the dialogue box appears, by clicking "Yes" to download. Once you open Encarta Premium, the software will automatically search for updates. The software will prompt you to download the updates, once the system determines which updates you need.
Click the "Continue" option once your updates download and the dialogue box prompts you to install the updates. Microsoft will install the updates behind the scenes while you continue to work.
Restart your computer when prompted. Once installation is complete, the system will ask you to restart your computer so the updates can finish installing. Click on the "Restart" option to complete the process. Your computer will restart and Microsoft Encarta will load again upon completion.
