In the Filemaker application, which is available for both PC and Mac systems, database developers have the ability to lock their files with a username and password. By adding this security to your Filemaker files, you will prevent other individuals from being able to open the databases without logging in and authenticating. If you want to unlock your files and remove the security, you can set Filemaker to automatically log in when a file is opened.

Open the Filemaker database file that you want to unlock on your PC or Mac computer.

Enter a valid username and password to log into the locked Filemaker file.

Open the "File" menu in the top menu bar and select "File Options."

Go to the "Open/Close" tab at the top of the pop-up window.

Check the box next to "Log in using" and make sure the "Account name and password" radio button is selected.

Enter a valid username and password in the appropriate fields in the pop-up window.

Press the "OK" button to save the settings and return to the main database window. The database has now been unlocked, so it will open automatically without forcing users to log in first.
