How to Unhide Music Files on an iPod

by James Stone

A hidden file or folder is a directory in Windows that a user cannot see by default. These hidden files often serve to hide important operating-system-related files and user preferences. However, if you wish to access those user files or any protected multimedia files on your iPod, you will have to turn the hidden files and folders attribute off in Windows. If you want to keep these files out of view, then turn on the hidden files and folder attribute for any Windows-related file.

Click the "Start" button, the "Control Panel" link, the "Appearance and Personalization" link and then the "Folder Options" link. The "Folder Options" dialog box displays on-screen.

Click the "View" tab and the "Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives" checkbox to display the hidden files on your iPod.

Click the "OK" button to apply the changes and close the dialog box.
