How to Unblock Actions on IMVU

By Irene A. Blake

In IMVU, an online virtual community that focuses on social interaction, users control their 3D avatars in chat rooms via an Actions menu. A user can instruct his avatar to change body position or mood or to interact physically with another avatar. Unblocking certain actions depends on your level of access. Free account holders or “Guest_” account holders can’t use Access Pass and VIP Club membership actions without a special subscription. VIP Club members must permit other account holders access for physical contact with their avatars.

"Guest_" Users

Step 1

Click “Access Pass” or “VIP” on the bar of options on your IMVU avatar homepage to go to the page for the type of setup you want.

Step 2

Purchase an Access Pass or VIP Club plan. To purchase the Access Pass, click “Buy Now,” click “Checkout” and then do as instructed on the following page to review and complete your order using a credit card. To purchase a VIP Club plan, click the “Select Plan” button under the type of plan you want, click “Checkout” and then finish ordering your membership.

Step 3

Wait for confirmation that IMVU successfully completed your order and then go to your private chat room or a public room in the IMVU messenger.

Step 4

Click your avatar or another user’s avatar to bring up the Actions menu. Select an AP or VIP action on the menu to try the action.

VIP Club Members

Step 1

Access the IMUV Account Settings and Tools page via the your IMVU avatar homepage or the 3D chat messenger window. If you’re on the homepage, click the “Account” link near the upper right corner of your browser. If you’re in the IMVU chat messenger, click “Settings” at the top right corner of the window and then click the “My Account” option on the left sidebar on the Settings screen to go directly to the webpage.

Step 2

Scroll down to the Action Block Preferences area of the VIP Preferences section.

Step 3

Click any boxes that contain check marks in the Buddy and Non-Buddy columns to the right of different actions to remove the marks and permit other IMVU account holders to interact physically with your avatar. If you remove the check marks in the Buddy column, then your Friends avatars can interact physically with your avatar. If you remove the check marks in the Non-Buddy column, all other avatars can make certain types of physical contact.

Step 4

Alert others of the changes you’ve made as desired. For example, tell only your friends or, while in a chat room, advise the entire room that you’ve removed one or more of the action restrictions you had in place.
