How to Turn Off the Sound on a Sony Handycam
By John Ruiz
Sony Handycam camcorders offer several ways to extend the battery life, such as lowering the LCD screen brightness and turning off the camcorder sounds. Disabling the camcorder sounds also ensures that you won't be interrupted during business meetings or other important events that you want to record. Muting the sounds while playing back a video can be useful, too, if you don't want to distract other people around you.
Step 1
Switch on the Sony Handycam camcorder and tap the "Menu" button in the upper left corner of the display.
Step 2
Go to "Setup" and choose "General Settings." Set the "Beep" setting to "Off" to disable operation beeps.
Step 3
Enter Playback mode by pressing the "Play" button and locating a video that you recorded and now wish to play back. While the video is playing, tap the "Volume" icon on the left side of the display. Decrease the volume to the lowest level to mute the playback sounds.
