While providing protection against potential threats, Avira Internet Security can also interfere with benign operations. Avira's firewall doesn't just restrict incoming and outgoing Internet traffic, but it also polices changes to the system itself. If the program blocks you from adding or removing programs or devices, applying software patches or performing other administrative actions, temporarily disable the software. You can turn protection back on at any point once you've completed your task.

Step 1

Press "Windows" to go to the desktop. Click the arrow on the right side of the taskbar to expand the notification area.

Step 2

Hover the mouse over each icon to see the name of the associated application. Right-click "Avira Internet Security."

Point to "FireWall" and then select "Enable FireWall" from the context menu to disable protection.

  • You can follow the same process as above to re-enable the firewall.
