How to Turn On the Internal Camera on My Sony Vaio
By Melissa King
Many newer Sony Vaio laptop computers feature a built-in webcam. This device can be used to record video and take pictures; it also lets you have "face-to-face" conversations with family and friends around the world. The webcam is turned on by default when the computer boots up, but you can turn it off if you wish. If you or someone else using your laptop turned the camera off, you can turn it back on with just a few clicks.
Step 1
Power on your Sony Vaio laptop and click on the Windows "Start" button.
Step 2
Click "All Programs." Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Arcsoft Webcam Companion."
Step 3
Click the "Webcam Companion 3" option to turn the camera on.
Tips
- If your camera still isn't working, you may need to update the camera drivers on your Vaio. Open a browser and navigate to the Sony website to download the latest drivers (see Resources). Select the model of your computer to obtain the correct drivers.
