How to Troubleshoot My Oki B4400

The Oki B4400 is a monochrome laser printer capable of printer up to 27 pages per minute. Although it is built to last for years, according to the Oki B4400 Users Guide, occasionally you may experience problems with your printer. If you are having problems with your Oki B4400 or if the print quality is subpar, here are some troubleshooting procedures you can follow. You can fix most problems yourself with no technical expertise.

Check the image drum cartridge and toner cartridge if the Oki B4400 prints nothing but blank sheets. Reinstall the image drum cartridge and try to print again. Install a new toner cartridge if that does not fix the problem.

Install a new toner cartridge if the text on the printed page is faint and hard to read. Clean the LED array if that does not fix the problem.

Change the paper type, and instead use smooth laser bond printer paper, if the page has a gray background. This is often due to toner sticking to the paper.

Print a cleaning page if the printed page has repetitive marks throughout it. You can do this by pressing the "Online" button, opening the feed tray and inputting a normal 8.5-by-11-inch paper. Press "Menu" until the "Maintenance Menu" appears and press "Select." Press "Item" and select "Cleaning Page." Press "Select" again.

Replace the toner cartridge if the printed page has vertical streaking lines. Replace the drum if that does not fix the problem.

Clean the LED array if the printed page has fuzzy print. Print a cleaning page if that does not work.

Check the paper source if the printed text is blurry or too light. Ensure that you are using laser printer paper.

Change the darkness setting if the printed text is too dark.

Check to make sure that you install the paper correctly if the pages curl excessively after printing. Note that the print side should face down in the paper feed tray.
