Losing your Internet connection can be very stressful. If you work from home, you are losing money for every day your connection is down. It can sometimes take a Comcast technician one week to make it out to your house--and that is a long time! Learn how to troubleshoot your Comcast Internet connection prior to calling in the professionals.
How to Troubleshoot Comcast Internet Connection
Check to make sure all of your cables are plugged in. Sometimes cables can fall out. If you are moving the computer around you can knock them out easily. Make sure that the cables have not broke or been chewed through--if you have any animals that like to chew on everything, they could have got a hold of the cables.
Call Comcast and see if there's an outage in your area. Even if there is just a cable outage and your TV does not work, it can may effect the Internet also. If there is an outage and Comcast starts to receive a lot of calls, they will send out a technician to fix the problem.
Look at your cable modem to see if it is still working. There should be three indicator lights on there with a solid green light. Power, cable, and PC. If any of those are blinking or they're not lit, then you know something is wrong with your Internet connection. Unhook the power cord from your modem. Leave it off for a couple of minutes then plug it back in. This should reset it.
Reboot your computer. Sometimes your computer has loaded up on too many cookies. So it needs a restart. This could solve your problem right here. You should turn your computer totally off and give it a couple of minutes. If your modem is still working and the restart did not help. You might have caught a virus.
Call a technician if all else fails. There just might not be anything you can do. Be patient until a service technician arrives.
