How to Temporarily Disable Malwarebytes
by Ruri RanbeMalwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO features a protection engine that provides proactive defense against attack. The anti-virus software monitors your computer for suspicious activity, alerting you whenever it detects a potential threat. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, however, can sometimes miscategorize benign programs or activities as harmful, reporting what's known as a "false positive." You can disable temporarily real-time protection to prevent conflicts.
Step 1
Expand the system tray in the taskbar to view the list of applications running in the background.
Step 2
Right-click the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware icon and then select "Enable Protection" from the context menu.
Click "Yes" when prompted to turn off Real Time Protection.
Tips
- To prevent the protection engine from reactivating at startup, click "Start with Windows" to clear the check box next to it in the context menu.
- If the "Enable Protection" option is grayed out, select "Exit" from the context menu instead.
