How to Sync a Blackberry With Yahoo Contacts
By Fred Decker
Messaging and contact management are among the core strengths of the BlackBerry smartphone platform, providing rich support for business messaging as well as personal email. If you rely on Yahoo Mail for personal email, you can use BlackBerry's Desktop Manager software to synchronize your Yahoo contacts with your phone.
Click "Setup" and select "E-Mail Accounts." If multiple accounts are set up, you'll be prompted to choose one of the accounts. Select "Internet Mail Account."
Log in to your BlackBerry Internet Service account, if prompted. Click on your Yahoo account, and then click "Edit."
Scroll down to "Synchronization Options" and check the "Contacts" box.
Click "Save" to save your settings, then enter the password for your email account to finish activating your wireless synchronization. Your Yahoo contacts sync automatically over the air with your phone's contacts.
- You can also use BlackBerry's Desktop Manager to synchronize contacts with the phone. This is less convenient, requiring you to connect the phone to a computer and perform updates manually.
- The BlackBerry will import and synchronize with your Yahoo contacts, but it does not support the use of multiple categories.
