How to Find Your Product Key for Symantec Norton Antivirusby ContributorUpdated December 13, 2019
Before doing anything with your Norton Antivirus or any Norton product, it's necessary to make sure that you have the product key that goes with your Norton product. You will need it to install and reinstall as well as update your Norton product. Norton uses the product key to keep track of your subscription that is attached to your Norton product at the time of your initial purchase. Your Norton subscription entitles you to usually one year of Symantec product updates and the latest virus definitions available. On more recent products you cannot even use the software without it, aside from the initial 15-day trial period. There are several places and methods to find your Symantec Norton Antivirus product key.
Find your Norton product key on the back of the CD sleeve that your Norton product came in.
If you originally purchased your Norton product online and downloaded the software, then you should have received a confirmation email containing your Norton product key. Check through your email history. The email should contain your product key.
When you originally installed your Norton product, you were requested to create a Norton Account. If you created an account, you provided an email address and created a password. In your account, your Norton product and product key were registered. Log in to My Norton Account (mynortonaccount.com/amsweb/default.do) to retrieve this information.
Find your Norton product key by navigating to the Symantec Order Lookup page (store.symantec.com/en/us/order/status). You'll need to provide either your order number and your password, your email and the last five digits of the credit card you used to make the purchase.
If you purchase the actual CD for your Norton product, be sure to store it in a safe place. If you purchased your Norton product online and downloaded the software, print out the confirmation email and file it in a secure location.
