How to Stop Unwanted Websites From Popping Up

Websites that pop up unexpectedly can be both an annoyance and a drain on your computer system's resources. Do not fret, however, since most popular browsers allow you to block pop-ups by changing the settings. Occasionally, you may find some sites do not work correctly without pop-ups enabled. If that is the case, you can go back and simply enable pop-ups for the time being.
Internet Explorer
Step 1
Launch your Internet Explorer.
Step 2
Select "Tools" in the main menu bar above the browser. Scroll down and choose "Pop-up Blocker."
Step 3
Scroll over and click "Turn On Pup-up Blocker." Restart your browser.
Firefox
Step 1
Launch Firefox.
Step 2
Select "Tools" in the main menu bar above the browser. Scroll down and click "Options."
Step 3
Click the "Content" tab. Put a check mark in the box next to "Block pop-up windows."
Step 4
Click the "OK" button. Restart your browser.
Safari
Step 1
Launch Safari.
Step 2
Click "Safari" in the main menu bar above the browser.
Step 3
Scroll down and click "Block Pop-Up Windows." Restart your browser.
