Step-by-Step How to Scan Documents

by Juderson Jean-Baptiste

Scanning machines allow you to preview photos and documents on your computer. You will then be able to edit the documents you have scanned. This saves you a lot of time because you do not have to retype the documents into the computer. Windows operating systems have a built-in scanning and faxing utility. Before scanning, make sure the scanner is on, and the document is inside the scanner.

Step 1

Click the "Start" button.

Step 2

Click "All Programs."

Step 3

Click "Windows Fax and Scan."

Step 4

Go to the "Toolbar," and click "New Scan."

Step 5

Click the "Profile" list, and select "Photo."

Step 6

Click "Preview" to see what the document will look like.

Click "Scan" to start scanning the document.

  • You will need Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to edit the text in the documents.
  • You can edit the photos with any photo editing software.
