How to Get the Sound Back in Music on YouTubeby Michelle Carvo
The vast majority of videos on YouTube come with sound of some sort -- usually music. When a YouTube video that normally has music is not playing that music correctly, there are several potential causes for this, ranging from sound muting to hardware failure. By going through the troubleshooting process of these causes, you can get the sound back in music on YouTube.
Open the music video that you would like to watch on YouTube.
Click the "Sound" icon on the bottom left of your screen to open the sound settings dialog box. If the sound icon in the box is red, click it to un-mute your speakers. The sound should come back on the YouTube video. If not, go to Step 3.
Check that your speakers are plugged in and on. If the speaker has a USB or power adapter, make sure it is plugged in. Make sure that the speaker's audio cable is plugged into the correct sound port on the computer. If the sound does not return after doing this, go to Step 4.
Click the "Sound" icon on the bottom of the YouTube video screen if the icon has a red "x." Clicking the icon in this case will get the sound back in the YouTube video as it un-mutes the speakers. If the sound does not return after doing this, proceed to the next step.
Check to see if the sound works on any other file with sound on your computer, such as a music or video file. If it does not, try re-installing the audio device drivers by visiting your computer's manufacturer support website. If the sound does not return after doing this, proceed to the next step.
Check to make sure the speakers are working. You can do this by plugging in another set of speakers or headphones. If the sound works on the new speakers or headphones, then your current set of speakers is the problem. If the sound does not work on the new speakers or headphones, your computer may have a damaged sound card. In this case, you can either replace the sound card yourself by following the instruction manual for the computer, take the computer to a local repair shop for service, or contact the manufacturer if the computer is still under warranty.
