If your Comcast cable box or Internet service is not working properly, one of the easiest fixes for the problems is a signal reset. When you request a reset signal procedure, a Comcast representative uses his computer program to turn off your system and then restart it. You cannot reset a signal yourself, however getting a Comcast representative to perform this operation usually requires only a few minutes to do. Have your Comcast customer account number handy to give to the representative.

Step 1

Manually turn off your cable box, wait a few minutes and turn it on again. This simple procedure often clears the problem. If not, go to the next step.

Step 2

Pick up your telephone or mobile phone and dial 1-800-266-2278 (1-800-Comcast).

Step 3

Explain to the Comcast representative that you are having problems with your service and would like to receive a signal reset. The representative may ask that you provide your Comcast customer account number. In most cases, the procedure will be done immediately.
