How to Sign In to Use Your Hotmail Account

Windows Live Hotmail's free, Web-based email allows users to access their email from any Internet-capable computer. Logging in to the Hotmail account is enabled through a user's browser and is authenticated with a username and password. Although confusing to many users, Hotmail is accessible via the Windows Live website. If you navigate to the old address, you are simply redirected to the Windows Live site. However, signing in works the same way, even if the appearance is different.

Open your Internet browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Enter "" in the address field, and press "Enter." Alternatively, enter "" to be redirected to the site.

Enter your full Hotmail email address, such as "," in the "Windows Live ID" field.

Enter our password in the "Password" field.

Check "Remember me" to have the site remember your login name, and check "Remember my password" to have it remember your password. This saves you time on subsequent visits, but is not recommended on a shared or public computer.

Click "Sign in" to sign in to your Hotmail account.
