Help to Setup Netflix on a Magnavox Blu-Ray Player

The Magnavox 5130 series Blu-ray disc players come equipped with built-in wireless connectivity and the ability to stream movies through services such as Netflix and Vudu. Netflix has thousands of movies and television show episodes available for on-demand streaming. Connecting to Netflix through your Magnavox Blu-ray player requires that you have an active Internet connection and an active membership to Netflix.
Register with Netflix
You must have an active Netflix membership in order to stream movies to your Magnavox Blu-ray player. Visit Netflix.com to create a new Netflix account. If you already have an account you may skip this step and log in with your user name and password. You will be given the option to choose movies by mail, streaming movies or both services. You must purchase the streaming service to access Netflix on your Blu-ray player.
Connecting to the Internet
Your Magnavox Blu-ray player must be connected to the Internet before it can stream content from Netflix. You have the choice of connecting your Blu-ray player through a wired or wireless connection. To connect to a wired connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of your Blu-ray player and router. To connect wirelessly, press the "Menu" button and select the "Network Connection" menu. select "Network selection" and choose the "Wireless" option. Select the "Wireless Router" option then select "Find wireless network." Your Blu-ray player will begin looking for all wireless networks within range. Choose your network and enter any passwords or security keys assigned to your wireless network.
Obtain an Activation Code
Select "Netflix" from your Magnavox Blu-ray player's main menu and press the "Green" button while the Netflix opening screen is loading. The first time you load Netflix you will see a screen titled "Network Service Disclaimer." Select "Agree" and press the "OK" button to allow your Blu-ray player to connect to the Internet. Select the "Yes - activate instant streaming from Netflix" and press "OK." An activation screen with an activation code will appear on your screen. Log on to Netflix.com/activate on your computer to activate your Magnavox Blu-ray player as a Netflix device.
Wired Versus Wireless Connection
Differences between wired versus wireless connections were discovered In the 2011 study "Wi-Fi in the home" by Epitiro. In this study, the researchers found that wireless Internet speeds were up to 30% slower than wired Internet speeds. Because streaming movies over the Internet requires a stable and fast Internet connection, it is recommended that you connect your Blu-ray player to a wired connection when possible.
