Since Gmail does not offer a parental account option, when you create a new account, you can't add Gmail accounts for your children or elderly family members to your own. You can, however, set up a new Gmail account for every family member and then invite them to share Gmail features, such as a family calendar or Google Chat. Furthermore, since you'll know the password for the accounts, you can supervise your younger children's email activity.

Step 1

Navigate to Gmail.com, and click the "Create an account" button.

Step 2

Type the name of the family member, create a username, choose a password, select the person's birthday and gender and enter the mobile phone in the relevant fields. Enter your email address in the "Your current email address" field, type the two words to prove you're not a robot, check the "I agree to the Google Terms of Service ..." box and click the "Next Step" button.

Step 3

Click the "Next Step" button and then the "Continue to Gmail" button to navigate to the new Gmail account's Inbox folder.

Step 4

Create a separate Gmail account for each family member.
