How to Set Up a Proxy Email

SMTP proxy servers allow you to debug an actual SMTP server. It can provide you with information such as who is sending e-mails to your server, who are the recipients and whether the server accepted the message. In a way, it allows you to intercept the mail traffic on the server and display it on your screen. Proxy servers are commonly used in the corporate world to track sent and received e-mails that transported via server.

Outlook Express

Open the program and click the "Tools" menu. Click "Accounts" and open the "Internet Accounts" window. Select the "Mail" tab and click "Mail Properties."

Click the "Servers" tab and type "smtp-proxy.tm.net.my" in the "Outgoing Mail" line. Uncheck "My Server Requires Authentication" in the "Outgoing Mail Server" window.

Click "Advanced" tab and enter "Port 25" under the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)." Click "Apply" and "OK." Close the "Internet Accounts" window.

Microsoft Outlook 2003

Open the program and click "Tools." Select "E-Mail Accounts" and click "View or Change Existing E-Mail Accounts Options." Click "Next." Highlight the e-mail account types that have already been configured. Click "Change." This brings up the "Internet E-Mail Settings" dialog box.

Click "More Settings" and select the "Outgoing Server" tab. Set the "Outgoing Server" as "smtp-proxy.tm.net.my." Uncheck the "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication" box.

Click the "Advanced" tab and enter "Port 25" under "Outgoing Server (SMTP)." Click "OK," "Next" and "Finish."

Mozilla Thunderbird Mail

Open the program and select "Tools" and "Account Settings." Select "Outgoing Servers (SMTP)" from the left panel.

Enter "smtp-proxy.tm.net.my" in the "SMTP Server." Enter "25" in "Port."

Enter you e-mail address in the "User Name" box and click "OK."

Mac OS Mail Client

Open the program and select the "Mail" menu. Select "Preferences" and "Accounts" and click the "+" sign at the bottom of the screen.

Click the "Account Information" tab and enter "POP" for the "Account Type." Enter your e-mail address in the "E-Mail Address." Enter your full name in the "Full Name" section. Enter you domain pop server for the "Incoming Mail Server." Enter you e-mail address for the "User Name" and your password for "Password."

Enter "smtp-proxy.tm.net.my" in the "SMTP Server."

Enter "25" in the "SMTP Server Port."
