How to Set Up a PC As a Gateway (5 Steps)
By TS Jordan
Configuring your computer as a residential gateway will make your PC the link through which all network traffic must pass before it reaches the Internet. This can help to keep your computer secure, allowing you to filter network traffic through the use of additional third-party programs prior to allowing it free reign on the Web. Setting up your computer as a gateway is determined during the network setup process.
Step 1
Click "Start" and open the "Control Panel."
Step 2
Click on "Network and Sharing Center."
Step 3
Select "Set up a connection or network."
Step 4
Select the diagram showing the other computers connecting to the Internet through a single computer. This will designate your PC as the gateway.
Step 5
Input your Internet connection information when prompted, including your authentication information, if necessary.
