How to Set a Panasonic Remote Code
By Adrian Grahams
Setting up your Panasonic TV set's remote control to work with other component devices connected to the set -- such as a DVD player or recorder, Blu-ray player or VCR -- allows you to operate the key functions on all devices with a single remote. To make this happen, you need to pair the Panasonic remote with the devices using the correct code for each device. You don't need special software or access to a computer -- you just need the Panasonic remote control. If you can't find the correct code, there's also a universal "no-code" programming method that might work with the other device.
Using Codes
Step 1
Find the correct three-digit remote code for the component device you want to operate with the Panasonic remote control. You can usually find this in the device's user manual or on the support section of the manufacturer's website. Some manufacturer's offer more than one code, so write down each code you find.
Step 2
Check that the remote control contains batteries. If not, insert batteries in the compartment on the underside of the remote control, ensuring you insert them the correct way up and firmly close the battery compartment cover.
Step 3
Point the remote control at the component device.
Step 4
Press and hold down the "Action" and "Power" buttons on the handset at the same time for a minimum of five seconds. The component buttons flash if your Panasonic remote control includes button indicator lights.
Step 5
Push the correct button for the component device that you want to control -- for example, "DVD" or "VCR."
Step 6
Enter the three-digit code on the remote control's numeric keypad.
Step 7
Press the remote control's "Power" button to switch on the device. If the device powers on, you have successfully paired it with the remote control. If it fails to respond, repeat the procedure again using the same code or an alternative code if the manufacturer offered more than one.
Without Codes
Step 1
Point the Panasonic remote control at the component device.
Step 2
Press and hold down the "Action" and "Power" buttons on the handset at the same time for at least five seconds.
Step 3
Push the correct button for the component device that you want to control.
Step 4
Press the "Vol+" button, and then press "Power" while still pointing the remote control at the component device. Press the "Vol+" button repeatedly until the component device switches off and on.
Step 5
Press the "Action" button to lock in the code when the component device powers on again.
