How to Set Up My Linksys Wireless Router Without a Disc

by Alex Zang

If you've purchased a Linksys router, it may have come with an installation disc that you can use to help walk you through the process of installing and setting up your router. If you've lost this installation disc, you can go to Cisco's Linksys website and download the same set up file, allowing you to set up your Linksys router without the installation disc. You will need the model number and hardware version of your Linksys router, which you will find on a sticker on the router itself.

Go to Cisco's homepage.

Click "Support," then "Linksys."

Type your router's model number into the space provided. You can usually find this information on a sticker on the back or bottom of the router.

Click the "Downloads" tab. Select your hardware version from the drop-down list. You can find the hardware version on the same sticker as the model number.

Download the Cisco Connect Setup Software, for PC or Mac, depending on which type of computer you own.

Run the setup software. You'll be instructed as to when to connect your router to your computer, as this varies depending on the type of Linksys router you own.
